Israel Unveils X-intra Combat Drone with 30kg Payload

While drone delivery for pizza is still limited by laws, military drones are advancing quickly. The latest innovation comes from Israel. Defense contractor Flying Production, now part of Elbit Systems, has launched the X-intra combat drone. It is built for fast, high-risk missions on the battlefield.

Lightweight, Yet Powerful

The X-intra builds on the successful Tzur drone. It now carries up to 30 kilograms, more than double the load of earlier models. Despite the heavier payload, it stays lightweight and compact. One soldier can carry it in a padded bag. It takes less than two minutes to set up and launch.

Built for Multiple Missions

This drone can:

  • Deliver supplies to troops

  • Perform long-range surveillance

  • Carry out precision strikes

It includes high-end imaging systems from previous drones like Magni-X and Terminathor. These systems improve how troops detect and track targets. Some payloads are worth up to $500,000, according to Elbit CEO Eyal Dahan.

Proven in the Field

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have already used drones like the Tzur in areas such as Gaza and the Lebanese border. In one mission, a drone delivered blood to medics in a combat zone. The blood arrived safely in shock-proof containers. This life-saving ability is crucial in fast-moving, high-pressure environments.

Strong Government Support

Since war broke out on October 7, Israel has increased its drone spending. The Ministry of Defense committed over 400 million shekels ($106 million) to drone programs. Of this, 150 million shekels went to Elbit Systems. Other drone makers such as Xtend, CopterPix, and Airodrome are also receiving contracts. More tenders will be issued soon.

The move comes after early reports showed some IDF units lacked enough gear. Some soldiers even used social media to request basic equipment.

Trusted Through Experience

Flying Production reports that its drones have completed over 20,000 flight hours. These UAVs have served in missions at home and abroad. The company hasn’t listed its foreign customers, but the drones have seen real use in active conflict zones.
